A Butterfly Feast

The back yard echinacea circle has been teeming with butterflies and bees this week.  They seem to be savoring their final juicy meals before the big departure for warmer climes.

Fourth of July in the Pink

The dawn was a beautiful pink this morning, but it slowly faded to gray.  It was good to be up early enough to see it.

A new settee has joined the front porch this summer.  It is quite comfortable and has places to set a cool drink!  It was spotted in the window at Clarabel's antiques on 50th and Xerxes.

The hydrangea blossoms are beginning to turn white.

It's the first summer for many summers that there has been sufficient rain to keep the trees, plantings, and lawn happy.

As I was walking the path around Lake Harriet this morning I was suddenly surprised by the goose couple who came running up to me as if to say, "Our babies have arrived!"

They seemed quite fearless in the chilly wind and eager to have their breakfast.
