Butterfly Delight

Watching the Recession

Slowly, the snow is receding and the water is refreezing each night making morning walking quite challenging.  Up a little late for the dawn's early light, but enjoyed seeing the sun perched nicely in the branches of this elm.

It will be pleasant to say goodbye to this winter of discontent.

Just Enough

Sometimes you say too little.
Sometimes you say too much.
How good it feels to say:
Just Enough

Soon the butterflies will reappear

It's a fun thought to imagine that the butterflies are getting ready to begin migrating to our backyards.

Blissfully, they will never know what is present in this yard right now.

The countdown begins

Weather forecasters are predicting the snow to start at 3 today.

This painting is in the Squire House Gardens Spring Show in Afton.  It may be more appropriate than the spring flowers that typify a spring exhibition.

Squire House Spring Show

This rosebud is one of nearly 100 of my watercolor paintings in the Squire House Gardens Spring Art Show, entitled Reflection.

The show will open on March 16 and continue through March 31.  Other artists participating are James Wilcox Dimmers, Ruth Oseid Johnson, Angie Malin and Mary Jo Van Dell, along with Lisa Elias and Kerry Brooks.

Squire House Gardens is in Afton, Minnesota.  The show is free and open to the public.

Some of the artists are featured here:

Summer Lights Anticipated

Every year at this time I start focusing on flowers.  Up until now the focus has been on snow scenes, but something happens in March that switches to flowers just about this time.  The anticipation is great and the fulfillment even greater.  Echinacea remain a favorite.  They are so hardy and so long lasting and I join the bees and butterflies in my enthusiasm for their beauty.

Waiting for the Next Blizzard!

Weather forecasters are predicting 20+inches of snow this weekend with winds at potentially blizzard level.  All is quiet as we await the spectacle.  Where we will put the snow is anyone's guess.  We're topped out!
