A Counterpoint



The sun comes careening through the window
Glancing off the Rembrandt print over the fireplace
Grazing the corner of my eye
Shouting its new advantage on the journey to June's lofty peak
While outside the squirrels scrounge for seeds
Hoping to quell the hunger in freezing fecund bodies
Shamelessly shivering in the relentless 30 below wind
